Moving to the cloud
I had the fantastic opportunity today to be able to order 2 iPad 2′s. Why 2 you ask? My job means that it’s never a 9 to 5 affair and I find myself working from home to compliment what I do at work but I hate carrying IT kit around with me. What I want is to have a device at work and one at home but for both devices (the iPads in question) to work together seamlessly, and that is why I’m moving all of my operations to the cloud.
Recently I’ve become a great advocate of Google Docs and the freedom that it gives me is second to none. Recently I’ve found that it works great on Apple’s latest tablet as well as my desktop PC and laptop when organising my upcoming wedding. And with the upcoming iCloud service the future is looking good for accessing all my files in the sky. I’ll also be throwing in a little bit of Dropbox into the mix as a backup just to be sure.
I did have the option to buy a MacBook Air but it would still mean that I would be carrying kit around as I would be tied to one device so not an advantage in the long run. The 2 iPad theory suits me fine and with all the services available I think that this can really work.
I’ll post my findings in the next couple of weeks when things really get going.
