Lulsec pirates sighted c’ptain!

The lulsec pirates strike again and this time their target is not some hapless gaming site but rather thesun.co.uk

Earlier this evening (18/7/11) an exploit was found on thesun.co.uk’s server which allowed a malicious user to setup a redirect to another server which displayed a carbon copy of the sun website along with a faked story around Rupert Murdoch’s death.

Should I change my password? Probably.

You have all probably read about the security breaches that have happened in recent months including the Sony PlayStation Network debacle, various Gaming websites, Fox.com and many, many more.

This has raised many questions over how companies treat our personal data and the measures with which they take to protect it. As a result it saw the brief (but even that was too long) rise to prominence of Lulsec; a loose group of people (I refuse to use the term hacker because they were not that) who claimed to be exposing flaws in systems and shifting Gigabytes of personal data on millions of people and placing them on the internet for all to see.

A word to the wise

I just thought that I’d post this as a quickly to share my experience just in case it can do anything for you. Today I remembered that it’s been a year since I last renewed by phone and broadband package with BT. If you’re with BT they sign you up to a 12 monthly contract for calls and data but they don’t actually get in touch when the contract cycle has past. So how  to take back the power!?!
