Try as I might I just can’t get along with Linux. It’s a great system to use, incredibly secure and becoming more user friendly with each incarnation but it lacks the programs that I have become accustomed to on a Windows system. OK, I’m sacrificing the peace of mind that my system is nigh on bulletproof but I want to use Photoshop! I want to use Dreamweaver and play the games I love. It is what I was taught on, it’s what I want from a computer.
I love Android, almost as much as my co-Authors love their Apple’s and iOS’s but unless you have a phone or a tablet which is running pure, unadulterated Android then you aren’t getting the full experience but rather a heavily watered down version, just look at how dire the Android tablet market is.
So the new version of Ubuntu is upon us and after all the years that I have tried to like it and failed seem to be almost over. As I write this I do so on version 11.10 and following on from my previous review of 11.04 I’m mightily impressed.
The initial release of Windows 8 was always going to cause divides, not just the Mac boys vs the the Windows boys, but the Windows boys vs their Windows brothers.
So with that I’ve nipped over to MSDN and grabbed the Developer Preview to give it a whirl. For this first look I’m running it on an Acer Aspire One netbook with only 1GB RAM and an SSD. So let’s see what this baby can do.
Recently I had the delight (and I use the term quite loosely) of fixing yet another Virus riddled laptop. Now I am not going to be berating users in this post over people’s lack of adequate Security software, however what I want to highlight is a rather unusual trait that this particular virus was showing.
