I wanna be a rock star!
So with New Years Eve tomorrow many of us are getting ready for the celebrations and apart from the food and booze, entertainment is an essential part of proceedings. Now I’m not one for sitting on my arse and watching the rubbish churned out by the various TV channels, I want to be truely entertained.
A couple of years ago I bought my first SingStar game for my PS2 which turned into a 6 hour karaoke orgy. I loved it! Since that time my PlayStation has gone up the swanny but I want to rekindle the fun we had all that time ago for end of yet another decade. But to do this again I would have to fork out for more kit but my budget doesn’t stretch to a brand new or even a second hand console, so what to do. Well if I told you that all need to recreate said experience was simply a PC and a bog standard microphone I’m sure you’d be interested.
Let me introduce to you UltraStar Deluxe, an open source SingStar clone. I only can across it by accident but it has blown my mind with its possibilities. Take a look at the video below and continue reading if you’d like to know more.
First of all you’ll need to download the software. The package comes with a few songs to get you going (not that you’ll know any of them). Now obviously taking copyright into consideration I won’t be going into detail of where you can obtain additional material but a little bit of investigation will reap great rewards.
As far as the program goes you’ll find it almost identical to the real deal. The best thing of all is that you can even make your own files and there’s also an abundant community where you can find out more and more.
I’ll be testing it out on New Years Eve and I’ll be posting my findings soon, but I’m almost positive that this will change all of your living room parties forever!
